Last week I had the opportunity to give a keynote at a conference on ending homelessness, a policy area I've worked in for 15 years now. The conference planners and I had been chatting for weeks, and I was sure I knew what I was going to say. That is, until the night before, I had a conversation that sent me back to my hotel room to rewrite the entire thing from scratch.
